To have an effective safety system, you need to start with a robust safety policy and follow this with procedures and processes that allow the full implementation of the policy.

If you have safety and health policy and procedures but have concerns that they are not effective in managing your safety and health issues, we can review them and, were necessary, recommend changes to increase the effectiveness.


Manual Handling risks effect all organisations from small to large, office based to field work. Managing your manual handling risks can have a significant impact on reducing injury (and subsequently workers' compensation claims) and improving employee morale. STAARSAFETY Consultants can help your organisation identify the manual handling risks, assess them and recommend changes to reduce the risk.


Job Safety Analysis (JSA) can provide insight into the risks associated with common tasks within your organisation as well as ensuring that new tasks are assessed prior to implementation to reduce risk. A JSA breaks tasks down to the component parts and identifies issues associated with each step. Controls measures can be implemented to make tasks safer, leading to reduced injuries.


OSH Audits
STAARSAFETY Consultants can conduct OSH audits based on AS/NZS 4801:2001 - Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS). We can use the Standards framework to:

  • Conduct gap analysis in policy, procedure, and processes.
  • Audit sections or high-risk areas of your safety systems.
  • Audit for continuous improvement purposes (including EQuIP 4, the Australian Council of HealthCare Standards assessment tool).
  • Audit your Safety Management System, and if necessary:
    • Develop corrective action plans, and.
    • Plan the implementation of control strategies.
